Hello. Many students have earned perfect SAT Chemistry scores recently, and my SAT Chemistry enrollment has grown.
We had another perfect score this time.
Someone seems to get a perfect score at every sitting. This time, particularly many students have signed up for SAT Chemistry.
So I am quietly hoping for plenty more perfect scores.
One class consists of four girls. I was a little apprehensive because I have taught some rather particular students before.
But everyone in this class is wonderfully easygoing. Haha.
Two of the girls are over 170 cm tall.
With so many tall students, the classroom feels full. Fortunately, they are still shorter than I am.
They are all high-school students rather than middle-school students, and their interest in studying gives them good concentration.
But they do not seem to last a full hour. We end up joking a little, willingly or otherwise. Sometimes they say the strangest things during lessons.
For example, “Tell us about your first love, sir!” I could hardly believe it. Haha.
One student keeps sprawling across the desk and saying, “Buy us ice cream,” or asking me to buy something else.
Keeping everyone on track is not easy.
About every 30 minutes, their posture starts to slump, so I try to give them a little breathing room. Sometimes they talk about boys.
Then they start saying this boy is like this and that boy is like that—and I know all the boys they are talking about!
I am doing my best to keep the lessons moving. I hope this class produces plenty of perfect scores too.
I have also been teaching many IB lessons lately. The materials above are ones I provided for a Chadwick International student. Students from Chadwick in Songdo certainly seem academically strong. Some begin IB with not only an 800 in SAT Chemistry but also an AP score of 5 already in hand. Their starting point is different.
I do not normally advertise a 6, but this student went from 20%, a 3, to 76% after a month. It is hard not to mention that! The grade doubled, and the percentage more than tripled. I think that is remarkable.
For IB students, solving plenty of questions is best. No matter how much theory you know, you still have to face the questions. Haha.
The students are overseas for the holidays, so I have been messaging them to keep doing their practice.
With IAs, I sometimes help write a little and sometimes edit. But each person has different standards and each school has different requirements,
so meeting them all is not easy.
Even if I write something like this, someone can simply say they do not like it. That sometimes makes me wonder whether I should keep doing this work.
I am too busy to help with many IAs, and each one feels like a considerable responsibility.
I wrote the material above. Since I am not a native English speaker, some sentences are bound to be awkward. I then take it to an American colleague,
and we sit together trying to work it out. That process tires both of us out. Haha.
IA work is tiring, but when someone asks for help, I feel I should help whenever I can.
