2020 AP Chemistry Sample Answers and Explanations

In the answer sheet for Question 1, Problem 1,

I realized that my answer might be incorrect after a student pointed it out.

The appropriate dissociation is PbCl₂(s) → Pb²⁺(aq) + 2Cl⁻(aq).

You can also check the student's completed answer sheet in the comments below.

Sorry, the computer I'm using doesn't have Korean input, so I'm typing in English.

There was very little time to solve all the questions, and the student's answer sheet also contains some incorrect answers.

For AP Chemistry, College Board released a 2020 sample

without an accompanying answer sheet, so I prepared and shared my own.

Study hard, and I hope you get a 5.

Hello, this is JjangJi. I hope the 2020 AP Chemistry exam goes well for you.

I'm preparing and sharing an answer sheet.

Please be understanding if there are errors.

Because I was short of time, in some places I wrote only a brief method rather than the final answer.

The material above explains the second question.

I expect everyone already has the questions,

but I'll post them here again.

I uploaded the AP Chemistry answers to Question 2 first. Question 1 is below.

I noticed that after uploading, so please keep it in mind.

This is the first page. I put the answers to Question 1 together on one page of the answer sheet above.

If you're taking the exam, make sure you try these. This is a Ksp question, an area I strongly expected to appear.

This is the second page. Work through it carefully and check the answers. Intermolecular forces can be tested

in various forms and could appear on the actual exam.

The questions aren't easy, and time is tight, so make sure you time yourself.

This is the third page.

Binding energy appears here. I had highlighted this topic strongly, but seeing it in the sample made me wonder whether it would also appear on the actual exam.

It had appeared every year—would it come up again?

Now, Question 2.

Endothermic processes and kinetics appear. These are all areas we had identified as likely.

I wouldn't call these questions particularly difficult. Try them carefully.

This is the final question. In my view, it is disguised as an acid–base question.

But it isn't really testing an acid–base reaction directly.

Once you solve it, you'll see that acid–base chemistry isn't the direct focus.

Get plenty of practice.

I think College Board had said that this year's AP Chemistry exam would be difficult.

Some students think, 'How difficult can AP Chemistry really be?'

But I think they should approach it with humility.

I suspect the actual exam may be easier than this sample,

so don't give up if you find these questions very difficult.
