Several students had already secured university offers before their final IB results were released. Some had offers from KAIST or the University of Toronto, so they could wait for the remaining decisions with less anxiety.
Once the final results arrived, more messages began coming in one by one. Korean university decisions had not all been announced yet, but many overseas results were already available. A particularly large number of students were heading to universities in Singapore and Toronto that year.
One NUS student finished with an IB score in the low 40s and also held SAT Chemistry and SAT Biology scores. Another NUS-bound student achieved a perfect IB score of 45 together with a strong SAT Chemistry result. I was delighted to see their hard work rewarded.
A student who had struggled during the school year ultimately earned 44 points and was preparing to apply to universities in Korea. Another student received an offer from UCL's pharmacy program. That news arrived quickly, and I was grateful to the student's father for the support he had shown throughout the course.
These results came from students taught by me in Chemistry and by Grace in Biology. Another student earned a perfect 45 while still waiting to decide which Korean university to attend. One student received offers from nearly every US university on the list and had completed the Chemistry IA with me in about a week.
The messages also included final grade 7 results in IB Biology. It was especially rewarding to see Grace's students succeed alongside the Chemistry students after we had spent so much time teaching together.
