The 2024 AP results brought excellent news. The AP Biology group recorded a mean score of 4.48, with every student earning at least a 3. Eleven students at the school earned a 5, with additional 5s from students taught privately.
AP Chemistry also produced a strong set of results: eight students reported scores of 5. The messages below show several of those results and the students' reactions.
A clear pattern appeared across the successful students. Those who completed assignments consistently, analysed mistakes, and asked questions throughout the course were much more likely to earn a 5.
Younger students, including several around Grade 9 or 10, achieved an especially high proportion of top scores. Older students balancing IB or A Level preparation sometimes struggled more when homework and attendance became inconsistent.
The most effective preparation for AP Chemistry and AP Biology is similar: understand the core theory, solve a large number of past and unfamiliar questions, and examine every incorrect answer carefully. Concept review matters, but it should support problem-solving rather than replace it.
Questions are equally important. Most students who earned a 5 repeatedly completed the work, identified what they did not understand, and asked for help. Active practice makes the difference.
