2025 Oxford Physics Admission: IB 45 and Eleven AP Scores of 5

A student I taught in AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry for more than three years received an offer from the University of Oxford. By this stage, Chemistry had become one of the student's most confident subjects.

The message arrived during a lesson: the student had been admitted to Oxford and could hardly believe the result.

The offer condition was 39 points, including a 7 in either Mathematics or Physics and Higher Level grades of 7, 6, and 6. The student planned to study Physics and remained focused on preparing for the final examinations.

The broader profile included an IB predicted score of 45, eleven AP scores of 5, a near-perfect SAT result, and activities such as Model United Nations. This is an unusually strong record and should be viewed as one successful example rather than a universal admissions formula.

Congratulations to the student and family. Sustaining this level of work across so many subjects is a rare achievement.
