Cambridge Engineering Admission: IB 45, Eleven AP 5s, and a 42-Point Offer

This student studied IB and AP Chemistry with me for three years before receiving an offer to study Engineering at the University of Cambridge.

The news arrived shortly after another student from the same circle was admitted to Oxford. Both students would now be heading to the United Kingdom, which made the message especially memorable.

The Cambridge Engineering offer carried an IB condition of 42 points. Although that is demanding, the student viewed it as more manageable than the pressure of applying to highly selective Korean universities.

The academic profile was exceptional: an IB predicted score of 45 and eleven AP subjects with scores of 5. Even with those results, the student understood that a conditional offer still required disciplined preparation for final examinations.

Congratulations on an outstanding result. The offer reflects years of academic strength, but the calm determination to finish well is just as important as the headline scores.
