The IA is another important part of IB Chemistry.
Saving time matters.
So I usually aim to have students finish during the holidays or immediately afterward.
These are some recently completed IAs. There were others finished before the holidays too; I've posted a selection.
By 'finished,' I mean that all 11–12 pages have been written.
I'm cautious about showing IA text publicly, but I push students to reach the stage shown above, haha.
Students appreciate getting this done quickly. We shouldn't drag it out; finishing promptly gives them a little breathing room.
But lately it's been very tiring. Students have many other things to prepare, so I need to work harder too.
I keep trying to take a break, but it isn't easy.
I've even received school teaching offers from a few countries. Sometimes I want to go and simply teach at a school, but I haven't found the courage. Mostly, I just want to rest.
So I've uploaded free online lessons. I feel guilty if I simply rest.
I think I need to look after my condition until I can recover and work with more energy again.
In private lessons, IA work can be completed very quickly—sometimes in a single day, meaning a full day of work.
But in group lessons, I have to help four students at once, which isn't easy.
It's like playing several chess games at once: a few minutes refining one draft, giving directions, then moving to the next.
Finishing each group student's IA feels good, but it drains all my energy.
Progress also depends on the student's ability, and things become difficult if they get stuck.
They send many questions too,
and I haven't been able to answer all of them properly.
Of course, I do cover them during lessons, haha.
Now that I've helped many students finish their IAs,
I think I need to focus on AP Chemistry. There are many inquiries.
I'll gather my energy and help another group work toward 5s.
