Hello, this is JjangJi. The IB Chemistry exam is over.
Many students have sent me messages.
The 2024 IB exams seem to have had a lot of problems.
There was an exam leak.
Oh dear, what a headache. Students sent me messages like the ones above. I was receiving them in real time after the exam. It was a deeply uncomfortable situation.
Parents were worried, and students were worried too. There were many problems. My view was that similar things had happened every year but had only come to wider attention this time. I repeatedly told students, 'It's okay' and 'Don't worry.' I tried to reassure them however I could so it wouldn't affect their next exams.
More specifically,
some students sent messages like these.
When I said above that they shouldn't worry even if the exam had leaked, I think I was trying to reassure them however I could—even if I couldn't honestly guarantee what I was saying.
Anyway, the exam is over.
The first thing I wanted to tell students was that leaks had happened before,
and that it was better not to assume this would have a major effect on them.
I didn't think the impact would be that large, and unnecessary anxiety
wouldn't help. Please wait for your results with a calm mind.
My overall assessment is that this exam was manageable.
Paper 1 had a few confusing questions: moderately difficult.
Paper 2 was manageable: moderately easy.
Paper 3: Section A was difficult; Section B was easy, depending on the option.
Overall, it doesn't seem to have been particularly difficult.
