How IB Chemistry Students Earned a 7: Study Habits from Medical and Pharmacy Students

I asked several former students who earned a final grade of 7 in IB Chemistry to explain how they studied. Their answers were different in detail, but the same pattern appeared repeatedly: build the concepts first, practise consistently, and review every mistake carefully.

One student had initially received a 5 at school. To improve, the student completed my large question collection two or three times, practised multiple-choice questions whenever possible, kept a notebook of errors, and asked about anything that remained unclear.

This account refers to the former IB Chemistry syllabus, when Paper 3 and option topics were still part of the examination. The current paper structure is different, but the underlying method remains useful: simulate exam conditions, write complete responses, and study the markscheme language.

The student studied with remarkable consistency, often using lunch breaks for IB Mathematics and IB Chemistry. That commitment produced excellent results, but health and balance matter too. A sustainable routine is better than sacrificing sleep, nutrition, or wellbeing.
