The fourth Seoul National University acceptance has now been confirmed: two students in engineering and two in business.
Students often contact me after some time has passed, and additional or waitlist offers can arrive later, so the number may continue to grow. I rarely ask students directly about admissions results because I do not want to add pressure if the outcome was disappointing. Instead, I wait until they are ready to share the news.
One engineering student from an international school in Ho Chi Minh City earned an IB score of 42 and top AP scores, including Chemistry. This student was especially good at studying efficiently—an ability that is different from simply spending many hours at a desk.
A second student entered SNU Business with an IB score of 44. Alongside strong academics, the student had prepared leadership, service, projects, presentations, and a wide range of school activities.
A third engineering student achieved a perfect IB score of 45 and a near-perfect SAT result. Studying at a small international school in Europe meant preparing in an unusual and sometimes isolated environment, but the student consistently sought guidance and made careful application choices.
What these students share is more than a high score or natural ability. Their results came from sustained effort, careful self-management, honest reflection, and continued growth.
Admission through the 12-year overseas education track is sometimes misunderstood as automatic. It is not. More than ten of my students applied through this route, and only a small number received SNU offers. Choosing an appropriate department and balancing ambition with realistic strategy remain essential.
